I found this randomly thanks to the algorithm but wanted to say it was a really nice piece. It was cool to hear about your travels and the openness you had talking about the ups and downs of being out of a corporate job. Keep up the great work!

whoooo 🥳 congrats on what sounds like an adventure packed sabbatical and the job offer! def going through stage 3 with no end in sight and feeling as lost as ever. I don’t think I’m reluctant to return to 9-5, but I don’t want to return in the capacity I formerly was in (a creative profession), so I’m wondering if now is a good time to do something function-adjacent or switch to something completely new.

can’t wait to read more of your writing!

“Are sabbaticals supposed to motivate you to return to work or to convince you to never pursue regular full-time work ever again? For me, taking a “sabbatical” has only made me more sure that I’d to work a 9-5 for the next few years, rather than starting my own thing. All I’d like is a little bit of stability.”

This is such a refreshing take on the sabbatical/find yourself path, from someone who’s actually lived through it. Also, as someone in a regular 9-6, it’s something I’m starting to appreciate more.

What a whirlwind. The urge to be spontaneous but also feel the need for stability. So insightful to read this from someone who actually Did The Thing!!
