optimizing for daylight and progress | blogmas day 2!
on the second day of blogmas, serena is yet again talking about running out of time
šWhere is coriils? Still home!
š welcome to blogmas day 2! Turns out all the vloggers start recording for vlogmas on Dec 1 then the first post is on Dec 2 so thereās a final gift on Christmas day. Oh well! Cheers to the mindsets that have served us this year, the mindsets weāre sending off the year with, and the 24 mindsets weāre bringing into the new year.
This year, I realized that thereās not enough time for me to read every book in the world that Iāll ever want to read. What a terrible realization! There simply is not enough time, so it seems like the only resolution is to be deliberate with all future choices, not particularly ideal, if you ask me.
Isnāt that a lot of pressure? That brings even more scrutiny to how Iām spending every minute of this one precious life! And what makes things even more concerning, all I can think about is all the things I want to do, and all the things Iām trying to fit into the golden eras of youth.
I find that the months I donāt travel are the months I reach interest paralysis. Thereās so much I am interested in and could do ā write, read, build a puzzle, edit a video, but paralyzed by choice and defaulting to the easiest one, entertainment. When I have weeks of evenings of free time, I keep wondering what I could work towards but often Iām just playing another couple of games of tft.
Recently, Iāve been shifting my schedule. Once the sun goes down, itās free time. Literally time to do whatever it is I feel like doing, no obligations to my prior self. But what that means is that while the sun is up, maybe before work, maybe the hour before dinner, thatās the time I can pursue more productive side goals, like writing! The same goes for the weekend, spending my daytime outside, even if itās just going for a walk.
There isnāt enough time for everything, but we can make time each day for a little something that feels personally fulfilling.
This solves it on a daily basis, but what about the goals that require more of you? Like relearning a language or getting your pilotās license? What if we had one overarching goal per month rather than trying to pile goals on goals? What if, in 2025, I focused on 1 (or max 2) things at a time?
When youāre consistent, when youāre committed to something for longer, you can finally unlock the truly interesting parts of something, finally making progress. Youāre beyond a beginner, and I find thatās where the fun part begins.
Hereās the plan. One commitment (me giving my time), and one course / learning opportunity (me intake knowledge) per month. Interests are great, but maybe 2025 can be a year of focus.
Iām optimizing for daylight and progress into 2025, or at least Iād like to! Itās all so so idealistic, but maybe this way, Iāll become a morning person.
See you tomorrow! š«

I'd really love to aim at doing this in 2025!!
